I am Back, BABY!

Okay, thia has been one of the worst summers I have ever had in my life.....family deaths, a beloved pet dies (that is a killer in itself) a kiln melts down and now my oldest son at 15 years old get a motorcycle a 250cc and gets his motorcycle license, two weeks ago today. He went three houses down the street and crash! We found him spread eagle and in bad shape...the firedept and ambulance was there quick but with hubby a paramedic and me a nurse we knew atleast there was a broken collar bone and a totaled bike. He is getting better after surgery but is was rough going for awhile and mentally there I was a mess! He is a drummer in the school drum line so that is on hold and it was his right arm and he is right handed. more later.....

KILN on DRUGS!

Okay, after I cried and the feeling of wanting to vomit left me here is what I found after opening my kiln! It was set right, what went wrong...after a million firings...one wrong. That was a week of work and 3 new shelves that had new kiln wash on them and furniture...boooooo!

DPS

LORD! Have you spent a little over two hours hanging out at the DPS ? Well, I did today with my oldest to get his drivers permit and yes he did pass and get it so, WATCH OUT! Another teen out and about on the streets this summer! But, I met a few ladies there...funny how you can meet people at the strangest places! On lady was older and nice, she lost her husband in November, you could tell she was lonely and another was there for three hours yesterday but had to leave to go to work before they called her number...and she came back! The lady we first came to was in need of more coffee to say the least but the ones in the back were real nice but I was glad to get out of there...then it was time to get the youngest from summer school to go to pottery and get the oldest new drum heads....needless to say I would love a nap but I just a few minutes prior to having to get up and get dinner going. You know I did have planned to get in my studio today! WHAT ABOUT ME!!!?????!!!! Love, hugs and kisses

Ready for Monday

Okay, I finished folding and washing a ton of laundry but most of all I recycled a ton of clay. Wedge it all and bagged it and worked in the studio all weekend. Both blue diamonds are loaded to fire a bisque and I have my table full of items drying. Hubby got me 5 new shelves from my Dads shop to go in the studio/garage to use as drying areas but he is going to get all his tools out the band and table saws ( he doesn't use but once in awhile) in a two car garage we have a air conditioner, a northstar slab rollar, northstar extruder on the wall in between the doors that I have to move stuff around to get to (most of the time) and two wheels and three kilns (two large blue diamonds and a huge high fire L&L) and my ergo potters chair that is new and I hate...feels like a bad thong up my rear. I sit on a old bucket half the time (LOL, isn't that the way it goes) I have tons of press molds, humps and stuff...I love to hand build and glazes out the behind, I want to get another wheel but right now it is space. I love earthenware foe color range but want to do highfire too. So, my idea to stay productive is to make half of studio where one wheel is the low fire area and the visa versa with other and in middle a trim station with my giffin grip. May work, may not. I have to work on space and getting another wheel. I want a Brent cxc but I have a pacifica GT800 and Hubby wants them to be the same to have one spare set of belts handy.
I only got it because it was a great deal...new and with the chair and warranty and with all paperwork valued at 1200.00 for 450.00, now, who would turn that down? Not I.
How many others potters have to clean up and get everything just so to start work like me? Or am I just OCD? But, I found I and so much more productive and it is the summer show season.
Let me get it at least not so laughable and I will show you my space.....love, hugs and kisses

SCREWED UP!

Man! Last night I decided during the rain storm we had since it was cool to go out and clean the pottery studio.....and part of that was griding! I had a glaze chemistry class and Apadaca let me do low fire glazes with mason stains, MAN, they ran!!! He said sometimes mason stains can do that,HELLO, would of loved to know that!!! I had three shelves and tons of stilts and stuff with it all over!!! And today my eyes are swollen and my sinuses are clogged! Did I wear protective gear? Well, no...I know, I have it and should but I wasn't gonna do it....but then I did! Crap, lesson learned! Don't we all learn our lesson the hard way? Whats worse is watching our kids do it. I have never had glazes run until then...gotta' A in the class but I will use stains for slips trails only or to color grout from now on! Love, hugs and kisses!

Posting New Beads

Okay started a my TWITTER last night...LOL!!! lets see how well I can balance making jewelry, pottery (lol and I need to clean the studio and get busy today) add to the list blog, post twitter and the kids will be out of school.....MY how do some women do it!?!

The new kiln is here and it is not ready to go! A trip to FT. Worth or Austin is needed and new clay for mid fire is also...hmmmm and new glazes!!!!! I want these coyote glazes...has anyone tried them? http://www.coyoteclay.com/glaze%20tiles/conesixtilesgroupedbyfamilies.htm

Now I would like a third wheel to section areas off in studio to trim area, low fire throw and high throw area....no crossing of clay and maybe I can produce faster. I still love low fire and its colors ...it has its place!

Double D Design Custom Studios-Blog Day 1

Well, here it is I am on my way going to show the world my work one day at a time! I am nurse turned potter but, was a grahic artist turned nurse! LOL! In the middle I made jewelry and sold it all over Texas and to relax took up pottery!
Tonight, John, , my dear hubby is driving from Abilene, Texas to Grants, New Mexico to get me a L & L kiln...we are going high fire cone 10, baby! After years of earthenware and mid fire we are moving up to high fire.
I will post shots of the studio as we clean and set it up with the new kiln ( which makes the total now 4) and we are looking for another wheel to add to the two we have.
I loved mud as a kid and still do and so does the 9 year old Devin, I will post shots of him throwing...he makes nice bowls. Check out the store. Drop a line and stop by again.
